We are thrilled to announce that Dr Sheila Barker, director of the Jane Fortune Research Program on Women Artists in the Age of the Medici at MAP and executive director of the Friends of the Medici, has just published ‘Artemisia Gentileschi’ in the Illuminating Women Artists series with Getty Publications.
Edited by Alessio Assonitis and H. Th. van Veen, the Companion to Cosimo I features essays from MAP fellows including Sheila Barker, Piergabriele Mancuso, Maurizio Arfaioli, Marcello Simonetta, Brendan Dooley, Oscar Schiavone
The Early Modern Culture Greek Program is pleased to announce the publication of the Romanian translation of Vasileios Syros’ book “Medieval Islamic Political Thought in Dialogue with the Humanist Tradition in Renaissance Italy.” We would like to extend our warmest thanks to Professor Sabin Drăgulin and the publishing house Junimea for bringing this project to fruition.
MAP Academic Board Member, Nicholas Scott Baker, has published the book IN THE FORTUNE’S THEATER: FINANCIAL RISK AND THE FUTURE OF RENAISSANCE ITALY (Cambridge University Press, 2021).

 

Prof. John Henderson’s Florence Under Siege is now available in Italian, published by Newton Compton Editori.

 

Congratulations to MAP Academic Board Member Prof. Sharon Strocchia! Her volume “Forgotten Healers: Women and the Pursuit of Health in Late Renaissance Italy” won the 2021 Phyllis Goodhart Gordan Book Prize (Renaissance Society of America).

 

Congratulations to Tamar Herzig!!!! Her book “A Convert’s Tale Art, Crime, and Jewish Apostasy in Renaissance Italy” (Harvard University Press, 2019) won the 2020 Dorothy Rosenberg Prize (American Historical Association). Prof. Herzig’s book also received an honorable mention for 2021 Gordan Prize (Renaissance Society of America).
Luciano Piffanelli, Director of the Archives of Peace program at MAP, has published his new book entitled: POLITICA E DIPLOMAZIA NELL’ITALIA DEL PRIMO RINASCIMENTO (Rome: École française de Rome, 2020)
New MAP board member, Dr. Antonia Fondaras, is the author of the volume AUGUSTINIAN ART AND MEDITATION IN RENAISSANCE FLORENCE (Brill, 2020).
MAP Senior Research Fellow, Marcello Simonetta, has published the book TUTTI GLI UOMINI DI MACHIAVELLI. AMICI, NEMICI (E UN’AMANTE), (Rizzoli, 2020)
