Davide Boerio is a Senior Research Fellow at the Medici Archive Project in Florence, working on the Birth of News programme. He studied at the University of Naples “Federico II” and the University of Manchester, and earned his Ph.D. in Early Modern History, jointly awarded by University College Cork and the University of Teramo, with a dissertation on the Revolution of Naples of 1647–48 and its media ecology. His research integrates media studies, political and cultural history, book history, the history of knowledge, urban history, military history, and digital humanities. He has delivered invited lectures at major international conferences across Europe and North America, and his work has been published in leading academic journals and edited volumes. He has held competitive postdoctoral positions funded by the Irish Research Council, the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, and the Italian Ministry of University and Research. His current research focuses on early modern information and communication networks and their implications for historical events.
