Isabella Kershner

Isabella Kershner is an MA candidate in Italian Renaissance Art at Syracuse University in Florence. She graduated from William & Mary in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in Classics and Art History, where she developed a passion for connecting Classical studies and archaeology with early modern Italian art. Her current research focuses on instances of Egyptomania in 16th-century Northern Italian art. During her internship at the Medici Archive Project, Isabella worked under the mentorship of Dr. Sheila Barker on the Bronzini Project. In this role, she designed seven web pages to showcase Cristofano Bronzini’s manuscript and promote MAP’s ongoing research initiatives. Alongside her digital design work, she conducted original research on the biography of Cleopatra within the manuscript, analyzing its relevance to the 17th-century querelle des femmes debate.
