Anne-Marie Stead

Anne-Marie Stead completed her Ph.D in Italian Studies at the University of Manchester under the supervision of Prof. Stephen Milner and Dr. Guyda Armstrong in 2014. Her doctoral thesis focuses on archives, publishing networks and translation. As one of the Samuel Freeman Charitable Trust Fellows (Spring 2014), Anne-Marie is undertaking preliminary research of the link between the Medici Archive at Manchester (a collection of Medici papers held at the John Rylands University Library) and the Mediceo del Principato archive in Florence. Under the direction of Professor Milner, who has established the project and initiated research at Manchester, and with the assistance of MAP, she will begin contextualising the Manchester Medici collection in relation to the Mediceo del Principato archive. Anne-Marie graduated with a first-class honours degree from Cardiff University in 2007, and completed her M.A. (dist.) in European Literature in 2008. Anne-Marie has taught for three years at the University of Manchester and has presented several public workshops and papers on archives and networks of translation around the UK. She has also contributed to several local archive projects in collaboration with Manchester Libraries and Archives+ and the National Trust.
