For information on MAP's new digital platform read "Digitizing the grand dukes: The Medici Archive Project enters the 21st century" by Lisa Kaborycha for the conference Our Digital Renaissance: Cultural Development, Artistic Creation, and Economic Growth held in Florence 11-12  Nov  2011, sponsored by Palazzi, Florence University of the Arts, Stony Brook University, and sQuola.

With generous support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, a team of computer experts at the Medici Archive Project has been at work for a year creating an innovative new software platform for the MAP database, which will revolutionize the way scholars do research on early modern history.

Features of the new system will include:

  • digitized images of  documents from the Mediceo del Principato
  • ability for distance fellows to do work on transcriptions online
  • community forums for scholars to share ideas
