We are very pleased to announce that MAP has received a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for the planning of an entirely new, state-of-the-art, interactive, modular database.
This six-month project is intended at formulating the best possible online platform that would enable scholars all over the world not only to view digitized versions of the most important archival documents, but also to comment on them, edit them, and discuss them in forums open to different groups.
For example, scholars interested in the role of women during the Renaissance would not only be able to see and edit documents relevant to their area, such as letters relating to family life, but would also have a dedicated forum reserved to them where they could discuss their common interests.
Ideally each forum would become the worldwide clearing-house for communication between scholars with common interest in the different areas relating to Florence during the late Renaissance.
