Launch of the new Medici Archive Project website
We are proud to announce another milestone of the Medici Archive Project as we celebrate the launch of the new Medici Archive Project website, www.medici.org. This beautifully articulated web site is rich in design and filled with information about our progress towards our noble mission. Undeniably, this web site will serve as an excellent educational platform for the world to better understand how these primary documents serve as a precious resource to illuminate the voices and actions of the Medici family dynasty and their Court during the late Renaissance and Early Modern Period.
I offer sincere thanks to the many talented people who dedicated many hours of hard work and leadership to make this new web site possible, enabling this remarkable resource to be shared with the world.
Starting with The Medici Archive Project staff we owe a special measure of thanks to Dr. Alessio Assonitis, Research Director, who provides constant leadership, dedication and inspiration to achieve the highest levels of scholarship while dispensing measures of quick wit. Lorenzo Allori, our dashing Systems Administrator who has contributed significantly to the conception of the new site as well as managed the process by which the integrity of the site’s message would be upheld. Joanne Riley, who brilliantly led us through essential steps toward realizing this new site and who we wish all the best in her new role as Associate University Librarian for Digital Library Services at University of Massachusetts Boston. Heartfelt appreciation and admiration goes to Rachel Harms, Administrative Director, who is instrumental to the day-to-day existence of MAP and who provided guidance, key ingredients, factual content as well as photographs for the site.
And of course, to our brilliant fellows, past and present, who have contributed to the core of our project and the purpose of this site.
With an incredible resume, good energy and extraordinary vision, the staff at Bluecadet Interactive is second to none. Josh Goldblum, Principal, Creative Director is cool and knows how to keep his cool under pressure. Troy Lachance, Designer; Kim Quinn, Designer; Hunter Hutchinson, Senior Developer; Russel Lebo, Developer; and Rebecca Sherman, Developer, focused their stellar abilities on perfecting the appearance, navigation and functionality of the site. Jim Goldblum provided inspiration and insight and was helpful in the initial conception and presentation to the MAP board. A special thanks goes to Sarena Snider for introducing MAP to this talented team.
From our very own staff to those at Blue Cadet, we couldn’t have asked for a better result and a more vibrant group of individuals to partake in our web site mission….and most of all, we had fun along the way.
Look for updates on our site regularly. We look forward to hearing from you and most of all, we appreciate your support.
Sincerely,
Martha McGeary Snider, Chair
