Luciano Piffanelli
Luciano Piffanelli is adjunct research professor at the Centre for Advanced Study in the Renaissance of the University of Tours, and has directed the Department of History at the Catholic Institute of Toulouse. He held a Doctor Europaeus PhD in “European Societies, Cultures, and Religions from the Middle Ages to the Modern Era” (University of Rome ‘Sapienza’ & University of Toulouse 2) and has been visiting fellow at the Centre for the Study of the Renaissance of the University of Warwick. He has taught classes in Italy (on medieval history and Latin grammar) and France (on Latin grammar and literature, Latin palaeography, linguistics, medieval and modern history), and is interested in European cultures, politics and societies from an interdisciplinary perspective (textual genetics, emotional studies, semiotics of space, territoriality of powers, written and writing culture) and on a large chronology, going from the 13th to the 17th century.
