The Project's goal is to be as inclusive as possible (citing even vague or circumstantial references where sculpture seems to be implied, i.e. "Sono arrivate le due figure.") in order to support narrowed searches by "PERSON", "PLACE", "DATE RANGE" and "WORD SEARCH". The acquisition of marble and other materials is indexed as "SCULPTURE" when they seem to be associated with sculptural projects. Sculpture for fountains is cross-indexed under "FOUNTAINS AND HYDRAULICS". Classical or ancient sculpture is cross-indexed under "ANTIQUITIES AND ANTIQUARIANISM". Small-scale work in gold and silver is generally indexed only under "GOLD AND SILVER WORK" and small-scale work in hard-stone only under "PIETRE DURE". Sculptors of all kinds who are identifiable by name are indexed as "ARTISTS". References to unnamed or otherwise obscure sculptors ("Ceccarello scultore di legno") are generally indexed under "SCULPTURE", even when they appear in contexts not directly relevant to this activity ("quello scultore è partito per Roma per diventare prete.") The MEDICI ARCHIVE PROJECT INC. is registered as a non-profit
corporation in New York with Federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
