"GAMES, TOYS AND SPORTS" includes both organized and spontaneous amusements: gambling; hunting, fishing and falconry; football, handball and racquet sports (i.e. "calcio", "pallone", "pallamano", "pallacorda", etc); wrestling, fencing, jousts and other organized combats; horse and foot racing; recreational sailing and boating (including "regatte"); children's games and amusements; all of the material culture associated with the above pursuits (including: dice and playing cards; children's toys; guns and other hunting requisites such as boar spears, bird nets, dogs and falcons.) Advanced horsemanship is included in this category (but not the acquisition and normal maintenance of horses.) Elaborate staged hunts, "giostre" and "caroselli" are cross-indexed under "THEATER AND FESTIVAL", as are many references to carnival and popular entertainments. Musical pursuits and dance are usually indexed only under "MUSIC AND MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS", unless they take place in a context relevant to "GAMES, TOYS AND SPORTS". Guns and other hunting weapons are cross-indexed under "ARMS AND ARMOR". Costume dolls are cross-indexed under "COSTUME AND DRESS". The MEDICI ARCHIVE PROJECT INC. is registered as a non-profit
