"ARMS AND ARMOR" focuses principally (but not exclusively) on luxury or parade armor for men and horses, including body armor, edged weapons, firearms (military and hunting.) References to ordinary or munitions armor are indexed less exhaustively, when there is significant information regarding design, production, acquisition or use.

Armorers, gunsmiths, swordmakers, etc., who are identifiable by name are indexed as "ARTISTS".
