Cristina Acidini
Dr. Cristina Acidini is one of Italy's foremost experts of Renaissance architecture and art and is the author of numerous books and essays and serves as a Historian High Officer of the Italian Ministry for Arts and Culture. She has played a major role as an art and conservation expert. In accordance with her Cabinet appointments, Dr. Acidini is a member of committees and working teams, in Italy and abroad, for the management of cultural events, symposia, and exhibitions.
In 2006, Dr. Acidini was appointed as the Soprintendente of the Authority for Cultural Heritage and State Museums in Florence area (Soprintendente Speciale P.S.A.E. e Polo Museale Città di Firenze). In February 2006 she was in Brussels as a Temporary Independent Expert of the European Commission for Cultcom 2000.
From 1991-1999, Dr. Acidini was the Deputy Superintendent of the Museum and Artistic Heritage State Board for the Florence Area and was responsible for the Italian Museum Standards Committee. In 2000, she became the Director of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, a State Institute specializing in research, conservation and restoration of works of art.
She received her Bachelor of Arts with honors from Florence University in 1977. In 1981, she was a visiting lecturer at SUNY College in Plattsburgh, NY and in 1997, as an Eisenhower Fellow, she visited more than 70 museums in the U.S.A, reporting her experiences in a book.
Dr. Acidini joined the MAP Board on May 14, 2009.
